Stoke centre-back Ryan Shawcross blasts the performance of his side despite progressing in the League Cup against Birmingham.

Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross has described his side's performance last night as "very disappointing".

The Potters conceded a pair of late goals to Birmingham City that forced extra time before coming past the Championship outfit on penalties.

"It was a very disappointing performance from everyone and we need to have a good look at ourselves before Saturday to make sure we're better because that's not good enough," Shawcross told the club website.

Stoke host in-form Southampton, who are fifth in the table, in the league on Saturday.
