Stenhousemuir retain League One status after seeing off Queen's Park

Stenhousemuir stay in Scottish League One after a 1-1 draw in the second-leg of their playoff with League Two Queen's Park sees them win 2-1 on aggregate.

Stenhousemuir will remain in Scottish League One next season after edging out Queen's Park 2-1 on aggregate in the playoff final.

The Warriors, who held a one-goal davantage from the first leg at Hampden Park, made a fast start as Anthony Marenghi fired wide of Willie Muir's left-hand post.

Stenny then took a third-minute lead when Colin McMenamin rose highest to meet Paul McMullan's corner before his sending his header beyond the reach of Muir.

The Spiders came to life as Ciaran McElroy was denied by Greg Fleming before Paul Woods and Ross McPherson went close to an equaliser.

Queen's Park did get back of level terms when Shaun Fraser headed home from Patrick Slattery's cross to give the Glaswegians hope of a fightback.

Stenny needed to stave off a late surge from the visitors as Woods again went close to scoring, but they were able to hold out for a draw that sees them win on aggregate and retain their place in League One for another year.
