St Johnstone target David Goodwillie deal

St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright confirms that the club have made an approach to sign David Goodwillie from Blackburn Rovers on loan.

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright has confirmed that the club have made an approach to sign Blackburn Rovers striker David Goodwillie on loan.

The 24-year-old striker has returned to Ewood Park following a loan spell with Dundee United, where he scored six goals in 22 appearances.

"We have made an inquiry and Blackburn are fully aware of what we are prepared to go to in terms of what we can afford in wages," Wright told BBC Sport.

"He might want to stay in England. I have spoken to David and he was quite impressed with the club. It was a good meeting. He is a really nice lad and his advisors were there too.

"So, if he comes back to Scotland we would have a very good chance of getting him."

Goodwillie joined Blackburn from Dundee United in August 2011.
