West Ham United's David Gold apologises to fans after deals fall through

West Ham United co-owner David Gold apologises to fans after a number of late deadline-day deals collapsed.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has apologised to the supporters after failing to get a number of late transfers over the line.

On Twitter, the businessman told fans "don't go to bed" as the club tried to acquire some players before the 11pm deadline.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor was reportedly one of the players targeted by the Hammers, but Gold later confirmed that business could not be done.

He tweeted: "Sorry for keeping you up late but at the last moment the main deal collapsed and the rest folded like a pack of cards. Stay strong.

"I'd like to thank (co-chairman) David Sullivan and Sam [Allardyce] for their efforts too secure new players during this window.

"however no matter how hard you tried there are people out their that you just can't do business with."

Reports have claimed that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy blocked Adebayor's switch to Upton Park.
