Bilic: 'Modric doesn't have to move'

Croatia coach Slaven Bilic tells Luka Modric that he doesn't necessarily need to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Croatia manager Slaven Bilic believes that Luka Modric is already playing for a "massive club" in Tottenham Hotspur.

Modric, who is coached by Bilic at international level, has been linked with summer moves to Manchester United and Manchester City.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp sparked speculation regarding the playmaker's future even further last week by claiming that it could be difficult to retain his services beyond the end of the current season.

However, Bilic is adamant that his compatriot should only leave White Hart Lane for the right reasons.

"I have spoken with Luka and I will respect whatever he decides to do," Bilic told The Sun. "But I did say to him he's already at a massive club at Tottenham.

"Everyone knows huge clubs are interested in Luka but what I said was he should not forget how big Tottenham are.

"Glenn Hoddle and Chris Waddle spent many years here and are proud to have played for this club. If he decides to leave then Luka should do it for the right reasons."

Modric joined Tottenham in 2008 from Dinamo Zagreb.
