Tottenham Hotspur win secures Europa League place

Tottenham Hotspur earn their place in the Europa League next season as they defeat Aston Villa on the final day of the season in a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Tottenham Hotspur have secured their place in the Europa League next season with a comfortable 3-0 win over Aston Villa ion the final day of the Premier League season.

The home side started the game well and could have taken the lead when Emmanuel Adebayor released the run of Harry Kane, but the striker's shot was well saved by Brad Guzan.

Guzan was powerless to stop Spurs from taking the lead in the 14th minute when Paulinho burst through the middle and fired a shot at the keeper who made the initial stop, but couldn't stop the rebound from finding the net.

Tottenham doubled their lead when Danny Rose raided down the flank and crossed in for Emmanuel Adebayor who tried to flick an effort goalwards, and it deflected off Nathan Baker and into the net.

Tim Sherwood's side made it three just before the break when they were awarded a penalty as Sandro's shot hit the arm of Gabriel Agbonlahor. Adebayor took the spot kick and dispatched it with ease past Guzan.

After the break, Villa created the best moment of the game when Fabian Delph picked up the ball just outside the area and drilled an effort at goal which clipped the post and went wide.

Kane had the opportunity to add a fourth for Tottenham as he was put through on goal but he and Guzan collided as they went for the ball and the referee awarded a free kick to the visitors.

Paul Lambert's side continued to press for a consolation goal and again it was Delph who tried his luck from the edge of the area and forced Hugo Lloris into a good stop.
