Jan Vertonghen says it is an exciting time to be at Tottenham Hotspur

Jan Vertonghen says that he is 'excited' to be a Tottenham Hotspur player ahead of a month of big games.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen said that it is a great time to play for the club after their convincing 3-0 win away at West Bromwich Albion.

A brace for Harry Kane and a Christian Eriksen free-kick gave Spurs the win at The Hawthorns, and afterwards Vertonghen admitted that he is excited by some big games coming up in the next few weeks.

He told reporters: "It is very exciting times. It's a shame we are out of the FA Cup as we wanted to keep active in four competitions but we're still in the Europa League.

"We have big games coming up in February and obviously on March 1 [League Cup final] but we have a lot of games to win before we go there."

The Belgian also hailed Kane and Eriksen, insisting that both players deserve the accolades that they have been receiving of late.

On Eriksen's free-kick, he added: "Just beforehand, I said to Danny Rose 'If he scores this again, it's unbelievable'. And he did it again. He deserves it. He practices those every day and you can see that it has paid off.

"Harry is another one that deserves it. He keeps working hard in training, he keeps showing the right mentality, and you saw that again today. I hope they can keep scoring because they are two big players for us."

Tottenham sit fifth in the Premier League table, two points adrift of the top four.
