Mauricio Pochettino: "We deserved the victory"

Mauricio Pochettino claims that his Tottenham Hotspur side deserved their 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur deserved their victory after watching his side come from behind to beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs trailed to Andreas Weimann's opener, but responded through Nacer Chadli and a deflected Harry Kane free kick after Villa's Christian Benteke was dismissed.

Pochettino believes that the result was fair, despite seeing Spurs struggle to break down the hosts for long periods at Villa Park.

"We deserved the victory," the Argentine told Sky Sports News. "The team worked hard and showed their character. In the end, the points are the most important thing.

"No [it is not a relief]. If you have a good result, you are a great manager if you lose you are a bad manager. We have our idea, our philosophy and we need time, but it was important to get this result today."

Spurs climbed up to eighth in the table with the win.
