Mauricio Pochettino: 'Harry Kane not my only striker'

Mauricio Pochettino insists that Harry Kane is not Spurs' solitary striker after revealing plans to use summer signings Son Heung-min and Clinton N'Jie in advanced roles.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has dismissed suggestions that Harry Kane represents his only available striker.

Spurs have come under fire for their failure to sign Saido Berahino, having lodged four bids - two on transfer deadline day - and been rebuffed by West Bromwich Albion chairman Jeremy Peace, who criticised Tottenham's "tactics" in negotiations.

The scuppered deal was perceived to have left 22-year-old Kane - who scored 30 times last season - as their only viable striker, with Emmanuel Adebayor exiled, but Pochettino claims that summer signings Son Heung-min and Clinton N'Jie can plug gaps.

"Much has been said about us only having one recognised striker in Harry - I don't accept this at all - the positional play of today's forwards means it's too simplistic to look for goals from any one position - playing a fluid style means players switch," he told the Lilywhites' official website.

"We secured Sonny and Clinton in the knowledge that we may not be adding any other forward."

Spurs have yet to win a Premier League game this season, losing one and drawing three.
