Mauricio Pochettino backs Harry Kane's England Under-21 selection

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino insists that he backs the decision to select Harry Kane for England's European Under-21 Championship campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he is happy to see Harry Kane earn selection for this summer's European Under-21 Championship.

Kane has made 50 appearances for Spurs in all competitions this season, and although previously admitting that burnout could be an issue, Pochettino has revealed that he hopes the forward enjoys success with the England Under-21 squad next month.

The 43-year-old told reporters: "We need to back the FA and back the U21s. We hope they come back with the trophy and Harry scores a lot of goals.

"We then need to provide a good rest for him before the start of next season so he starts in a very good condition."

Kane has scored eight times in 10 matches at Under-21 level.
