Real Madrid could move for Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino if Zinedine Zidane loses his job as head coach, according to a report.

Real Madrid could reportedly move for Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino if Zinedine Zidane loses his job as head coach of the Spanish giants.

Los Blancos are third after four games of the 2019-20 La Liga campaign, but the capital club suffered a 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League opener on Wednesday night.

There is believed to be tension between Zidane and Madrid president Florentino Perez over the club's failure to sign Manchester United's Paul Pogba during the summer transfer window.

Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp is said to be attracting the interest of senior figures at the Bernabeu, who are believed to be considering a change of management during the season.

According to The Mirror, Madrid could move for Pochettino if Zidane is sacked, with the Tottenham boss criticising his team following Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Olympiacos in the Champions League.

Like Zidane, Pochettino is said to have his frustrations over Tottenham's summer business, and the Argentine has hinted at a departure on more than one occasion over the last few months.

The 47-year-old, who managed Espanyol between January 2009 and November 2012, was linked with the Manchester United job before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed on a permanent deal.
