Erik Lamela takes Gareth Bale's shirt number

Club-record signing Erik Lamela will carry the burden of replacing Gareth Bale as Tottenham's number 11, while other new arrivals Christian Eriksen and Vlad Chiriches will wear 23 and six respectively.

Club-record signing Erik Lamela will wear the number 11 shirt vacated by Gareth Bale after joining Tottenham Hotspur.

The Argentine playmaker arrived in a £30m deal as a replacement for Bale, who became the world's most expensive footballer when he signed for Real Madrid for £85m on Sunday.

Another White Hart Lane recruit brought in to fill the creative void left by the Welshman, Christian Eriksen, has chosen 23 as his squad number.

Romanian international centre-back Vlad Chiriches, who cost around £9m from Steaua Bucuresti, has been given the number six shirt, previously worn by Tom Huddlestone before his departure to Hull City.
