Erik Lamela out to prove doubters wrong

Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela assures fans that his performances for the team will be "much better" this season.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela has revealed that he is eager to prove his doubters wrong this season.

The Argentine joined Spurs from Roma for a club-record £30m last summer, but he failed to impress during his debut campaign at White Hart Lane.

However, the 22-year-old insists that supporters will see a much-improved player when the team returns to action in the Premier League next month.

"I am getting in good shape and am determined to show Tottenham fans the real Erik Lamela this season," he told The Sun.

"I have recovered from my injuries, we have a new manager and I cannot wait to play. I am confident you will see a much better me this season."

Tottenham get their Premier League campaign underway with a trip to West Ham United on August 16.
