Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby insists that Spurs will return refreshed from the international break and bounce back from a run of three straight defeats.

Lewis Holtby has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur will bounce back from their run of three successive defeats when the domestic season resumes on Saturday.

Spurs lost consecutive Premier League games either side of a European drubbing by Inter Milan, which did not eliminate them from the Europa League, prior to the international break.

The Lillywhites suffered a dip in form at this stage last season and were shafted from the final Champions League qualifying position by North London rivals Arsenal.

However, Holtby, a £1.5m January arrival from Schalke 04, is confident that Spurs will return refreshed from their international commitments and secure a top-four berth.

He told the Daily Mail: "These 12 days of international break are really good for us to clear everybody's head; to go to the national team and see something else. We will bounce back, especially in the next game.

"There are still a lot of games to play and I think we have the right mentality and the right quality to play Champions League next season."

Spurs, who are four points clear of Arsenal in the top-flight table, travel to Swansea City on Saturday before home games against FC Basel and Everton.
