Harry Kane: "My heart was in my mouth"

"My heart was in my mouth", says Harry Kane as he reveals his reaction to seeing West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian save his injury-time penalty at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has admitted that his heart was in his mouth as he saw West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian save his injury-time penalty at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

After missing the spot kick, Kane reacted quickest to fire home the rebound and earn his side a 2-2 draw that keeps alive their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.

"The ball bounced nicely for me, I got in front of Alex Song, was about to shoot and got tumbled over. It was a nervous penalty to take but when your luck is in your luck is in. My heart was in my mouth when the keeper saved the first shot but it fell nicely for the rebound," Kane told BBC Sport.

"I think we deserved the draw, we dug deep at 2-0 down and it shows our character. We were sloppy in the first half but at 2-0 down we started playing better and knew what we had to do. Not one head dropped.

"We knew we had half an hour to go, knew if we got one then the second could come. We're delighted to get the draw."

The result keeps Spurs in sixth place, three points behind Manchester United, who occupy fourth position in the Premier League table.
