Etienne Capoue looking to draw on disappointing cup experience

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Etienne Capoue feels that his side have to show Sheffield United "respect" in their Capital One Cup semi-final clash.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Etienne Capoue is looking to use his disappointing experience in the Coupe de la Ligue to drive his side forward to reach the final of the Capital One Cup.

Capoue was part of the Toulouse side that was defeated in the last four of the Coupe de la Ligue by Marseille in 2010, but is now determined to experience the positive side of a cup run by helping his side overcome Sheffield United in the semi-finals of the League Cup.

"It was disappointing to lose that game with Toulouse but the cup run was a good experience," Capoue told the club's official website.

"I think I'm more intelligent to prepare for our games against Sheffield United as a result of that match and I really, really hope we can go to Wembley.

"We are very excited about both games. We have to start well in this first leg, especially as we are at home, and be clever in the second leg in Sheffield. We have to respect Sheffield United. We know what they can do. If they are here in the semi-finals it says it all about their talents."

Spurs face Nigel Clough's men in the first leg of the semi-finals at White Hart Lane later today.
