The visitors almost took the lead inside the first minute when Harry Kane latched on to Jan Vertonghen's header inside the box, before firing a strike against the crossbar.

Midway through the first half Vladimir Volkov's long throw was not dealt with by Federico Fazio, and Hugo Lloris had to react quickly to block Danko Lazovic's strike.

Sasa Ilic was next to threaten for the hosts, but after being picked out inside the box, he could only fire a volley over the bar.

Danilo Pantic saw his strike saved by Lloris in the final minute of the first half as both teams went into the break level.
