How Inter Milan could line up against Tottenham Hotspur

Ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash between Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur, Sports Mole looks at how the Italian giants could line up.

This season will be the 12th time that Inter Milan have competed in the group stage of the Champions League, but it will be their first participation since the 2011-12 campaign.

Fourth in Serie A last term, Inter are actually the last Italian team to win the European Cup, with that occurring back in 2010 under the leadership of a certain Jose Mourinho.

PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona are also present in Group B alongside Inter and Tottenham Hotspur, and the Italian giants will be desperate to put an early three points on the board.

Luciano Spalletti's side will enter the match off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Parma in the league at the weekend, but they have won their last four home games against English visitors in European competition.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Inter could take to the field against Tottenham.

Possible INT XI vs. TOT
Out: Sime Vrsaljko (knee), Lautaro Martinez (calf)
Doubtful: Mauro Icardi (fitness)

Inter will be without the services of on-loan Atletico Madrid defender Sime Vrsaljko, who picked up a knee problem during the recent international break and missed the defeat to Parma at the weekend.

As a result, Danilo D'Ambrosio is expected to continue at right-back, with Stefan de Vrij, Milan Skriniar and Dalbert Henrique making up the back four for the Italian giants on the night.

Further forward, Marcelo Brozovic is expected to be joined by Roberto Gagliardini in central midfield, with Ivan Perisic, Radja Nainggolan and Antonio Candreva also featuring for the home side.

Star forward Mauro Icardi missed Inter's 3-0 win over Bologna earlier this month with a muscular problem, but the Argentine came off the bench against Parma at the weekend and should be fit enough to lead the line.

Lautaro Martinez has been sidelined since the end of August with a calf problem, however, and the match will come too soon for the summer arrival.
