Montreal Impact 1-3 Sporting Kansas City

Goals from Kei Kamara, Graham Zusi and Jacob Peterson give Sporting Kansas City a crucial away win at Montreal Impact.

Two second-half penalties for Sporting Kansas City have helped consign Montreal Impact to their third consecutive MLS defeat.

The Quebec side started the game brightly and, despite failing to break the deadlock during the opening period, their superiority was rewarded four minutes after the break as Felipe Martins found Patrice Bernier in space inside the area and the experienced winger rifled the ball into the top corner.

Bernier undid his good work six minutes later when his handball provided Kei Kamara with the chance to level from 12 yards. The Sierra Leone international converted emphatically, slamming his spot kick high into the centre of the goal.

Kansas were awarded a second penalty on 75 minutes following a clumsy foul by Davy Arnaud on Soony Saad.

With Kamara off the field having been replaced by Saad, Graham Zusi took the responsibility and coolly rolled the ball into the bottom left corner.

Jacob Peterson ended the contest seven minutes later as he swept Roger Espinoza's low cross beyond Donovan Ricketts in the Montreal goal.
