Vicente del Bosque not out for revenge against the Netherlands

Vicente del Bosque says that he is not "thirsting for revenge" as Spain take on the Netherlands for the first time since their 5-1 defeat at the World Cup.

Spain manager Vicente del Bosque has said that he is not seeking revenge on the Netherlands for beating his side in last year's World Cup.

La Roja had gone into the tournament as the defending champions and the favourites to lift the trophy once more, but in their opening group match they succumbed to a shock 5-1 defeat at the hands of the Dutch.

"I am not thirsting for revenge against the Netherlands," Del Bosque is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "The Netherlands have been on the podium in the last two World Cups and Spain, who have dominated during recent years, are giving the impression of having dipped in the last few months.

"In that dip, though, we have scored 14 goals and conceded three. We have played 31 games in four series of qualifiers with a balance of 28 wins, two draws and one defeat. I don't think that is bad.

"Although I recognise that after the World Cup we haven't played well, I can see good things. We are going in the right direction."

Spain continued their bid to reach Euro 2016 with a 1-0 victory over Ukraine last week.
