Luis Milla is sacked as the head coach of Spain's Under-21s side following their Olympic elimination.

Luis Milla has been relieved of his duties as the head coach of Spain's Under-21s side following their Olympic elimination.

Milla secured the European Under-21 trophy for Spain last summer, but La Roja failed to score a single goal as they were eliminated from the Olympics in the group stages.

Under-19 coach Julen Lopetegui will step up to take the position, as confirmed in an official statement by the Spanish Football Federation.

Lopetegui will take charge with immediate effect.
