Southampton are promoted back to the Premier League following a seven-year absence.

Southampton secured promotion to the Premier League with a 4-0 win over Coventry City this afternoon.

The Saints headed into the encounter knowing that any sort of win would seal automatic elevation along with champions Reading.

Despite the pressure, goals from Billy Sharp, Jose Fonte, Jos Hooiveld and Adam Lallana eased Southampton to victory over relegated Coventry.

As a result, West Ham United, who defeated Hull City 2-1, have been forced to settle for a playoff spot.
