Goals from Nathan Redmond, Wade Elliott and an Adam Rooney brace see Birmingham end advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Birmingham City have ended Sheffield United's run of eight home wins after a 4-0 FA Cup dispatching this afternoon.

The Championship side advance to round five of the competition after goals from Nathan Redmond, Wade Elliott and a brace from Adam Rooney.

The Blades began the game strongly despite being a division below their Midlands counterparts but were unable to make the early pressure pay.

Young winger Redmond scored his fourth senior goal put the Blues ahead by clinically finishing a Jordan Mutch corner before the lead was doubled by Rooney seven minutes before the break.

Matt Lowton struck the bar for the home side soon after the interval but it was three not long after.

Elliott was allowed to carry the ball for too long and his precise finish evaded Steve Simonsen before David Murphy advanced into the area and crossed for Rooney to make it four.

Chris Hughton's men will be in the draw for the fifth round, which takes place at around 3.40pm tomorrow.
