Numerous reports claim that West Ham United are nearing the capture of Razvan Rat on a free transfer.

West Ham United are reportedly close to securing the services of Romania captain Razvan Rat.

The Hammers are reported to have offered a three-year deal to the left-back, whose contract with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk is due to expire this summer.

French outfit Marseille are also thought to be interested in the 31-year-old's services, but he is more in favour of a move to Upton Park, according to numerous reports.

Rat joined his current employers from Rapid Bucuresti back in 2003.
