Unai Emery: 'Sevilla deserved to win'

Sevilla manager Unai Emery believes that his side were well worth the three points in their 2-1 victory against Barcelona.

Sevilla manager Unai Emery feels that his side deserved their 2-1 win against Spanish giants Barcelona.

The hosts beat the reigning European champions for the first time in La Liga since 2007 and Emery felt that his side were excellent both going forward and defending their own goal.

The 43-year-old told reporters: "There are times that we have tried and we've deserved to win but we have not. Today has confirmed that the opportunities are there.

"Together, we found the synergies of play, both offensive and defensive. The team has found the necessary intensity.

"To struggle against Barcelona is normal, but I think we deserved to win."

The three points lifted Sevilla into 11th in La Liga while Barcelona remain in third after their second defeat to the season.
