Sevilla's Vitolo blasts "absurd" Mark Clattenburg

Sevilla attacker Vitolo hits out at English referee Mark Clattenburg following Tuesday's Champions League clash with Juventus.

Sevilla attacker Vitolo has claimed that "two absurd decisions" from English referee Mark Clattenburg cost his team the chance to beat Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Nico Pareja sent Sevilla into a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute of the Group H clash, but Juventus equalised late in the half through a Claudio Marchisio penalty, 10 minutes after Franco Vazquez had been sent from the field.

Vitolo has insisted that his team deserved to overcome the Italian champions and has hit out at Clattenburg for his two controversial calls in the latter stages of the first period.

"We had taken the lead and were playing really well against the Italian team, but the referee sunk us with two absurd decisions," Vitolo told beIN Sports.

"The second yellow card for Franco Vazquez was absolutely ridiculous and giving a penalty right before half-time for a foul that wasn't so bad really took the wind out of us. It's a shame to lose like this, because without those incidents we certainly would've seen a different game. The referee changed it."

Leonardo Bonucci and Mario Mandzukic both netted for the visitors late on as Juventus took control of Group H courtesy of a 3-1 success.
