Motherwell's Steven Hammell relishing Scotland chance

Motherwell defender Steven Hammell says that he will make the most out of his opportunity after getting called up into the Scotland squad.

Motherwell defender Steven Hammell has admitted that he never thought that the time would come for him to play for Scotland again.

The 31-year-old could feature in tomorrow's World Cup qualifier against Croatia after being called up as cover for injured left-back Lee Wallace.

"I've waited a long time to start a game for Scotland. It's something I didn't think would happen because of the stage my career's at right now," Hammell told the Daily Record.

Hammell has not played for Scotland since his debut in 2004.
