Scotland striker Steven Fletcher is stretchered off two minutes into tonight's World Cup qualifier against Wales after falling on his ankle.

Scotland striker Steven Fletcher has been taken off less than two minutes into tonight's World Cup qualifier against Wales after suffering an ankle injury.

Fletcher landed awkwardly on his ankle after an aerial challenge just 85 seconds in and was in considerable discomfort despite receiving treatment.

After a delay the forward was stretchered off and replaced by veteran striker Kenny Miller for Gordon Strachan's side.

News of Fletcher's injury problem will come as a huge blow to Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill, who will anxiously await a fitness update on his top scorer.
