Huub Stevens says that Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is very important to Schalke 04 after his goal against Arsenal in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Schalke 04 manager Huub Stevens has heaped praise on striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar after his performance in the win over Arsenal in the Champions League.

The Dutchman looked a threat throughout the match and gave the visitors the lead with 15 minutes left to play in their 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium.

Afterwards, Stevens applauded Huntelaar's display and stated his importance to Die Knappen.

"[Klaas-Jan] Huntelaar is very important to us," said Stevens.

"He is a team player, but he also scores goals on top of that. He worked very hard as a team player and I consider that most important.

"I took him off because he was so tired – he ran a lot tonight."

Schalke host Arsenal in the reverse fixture in two weeks' time.
