Rotherham United hold Nottingham Forest to goalless draw

Rotherham United earn a precious point in their fight for Championship survival with a 0-0 draw against Nottingham Forest at New York Stadium.

Rotherham United secured a precious point in their bid to avoid relegation as they held Stuart Pearce's Nottingham Forest side to a 0-0 draw at New York Stadium.

Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow's blushes were spared when he recovered from a worrying early miscue to deny Alex Revell inside the opening minute.

The Reds bounced back from their shaky start and could have been ahead when the lively Michail Antonio found Britt Assombalonga with a clever cross on the half-hour mark, but the striker fired narrowly wide.

On the stroke of half time, Jorge Ledesma gave the visitors another warning when he crashed a long-range effort against the frame of Darlow's goal.

Henri Lansbury headed narrowly over the bar just after the restart, before Dexter Blackstock nodded home from a Jamie Paterson corner, only to see his effort ruled out for a push on a defender.

Ledesma went close with another long-range effort on 67 minutes, and Reece James saw his powerful volley at the back post somehow saved by Darlow as Rotherham threatened to snatch victory.

Forest had several chances to seal the win too, most notably when Assombalonga headed a Paterson cross wide on 80 minutes, as the promotion hopefuls were held by Steve Evans's newly-promoted side.
