Gervinho delighted to end goal drought

Gervinho says that it was important for him to end his poor run in front of goal by scoring for Roma in their win against Carpi.

Roma forward Gervinho has expressed his delight after ending his poor run in front of goal.

The Ivorian scored his first goal since last November during Roma's 5-1 victory over Carpi on Saturday evening.

"The most important thing for me was the team performance. I also scored and that was important too," Gervinho told Roma TV.

"I wanted to prove that I'm the same Gervinho I always was. Undoubtedly getting jeered isn't pleasant and I know the fans expect a lot from me.

"There's no doubt we have a super strike force and that makes it easier for everyone, as we all have different characteristics. Are we favourites for the Scudetto? We're still at the beginning, there are no favourites. Milan and Inter are strong, but so are we."

Gervinho joined Roma in August 2013 from Arsenal.
