Two goals in the opening three minutes from David Zurutuza helped Real Sociedad see off the challenge from Sporting Gijon this afternoon.
The midfielder found the net in the second and third minute to give the home side a healthy early advantage.
However, Gijon got themselves back into the match one minute after the restart through De las Cuevas.
Sociedad wrapped up the points with three late goals courtesy of Gorka Elustondo, Antoine Griezmann and captain Mikel Aranburu.
