Luka Modric wants "long" Real Madrid stay amid talk of unrest

Inter Milan-linked midfielder Luka Modric says that he is "happy" at Real Madrid and is not seeking a move away from the Spanish capital.

Luka Modric has attempted to put an end to claims that he wants out of Real Madrid by insisting that he intends to see out his contract at the Bernabeu.

The Croatia international is believed to have come close to leaving the European champions last summer, only for Inter Milan to fall short of Real's asking price for the midfielder.

Speculation regarding Modric's future has refused to go away all season, with Inter reportedly prepared to offload Ivan Perisic to fund a move for the Ballon d'Or winner.

After netting his side's second goal in the vital 2-0 win over Sevilla on Saturday afternoon, however, the 33-year-old declared himself "happy" at Madrid.

"I have a year-and-a-half left on my contract and I am calm, as that's a long time," he told reporters. "My desire is to stay here for more time. I am as happy as I was on the first day."

"I am very happy and think we played a great game. We are happy with our play and happy with the three points. We need to follow this path. Every player had a great game and our fans want to see us like this.

"We needed a match like this one to give some joy to ourselves and to the supporters. Personally, I feel good and have felt good for the past month and a half."

Modric has not always been at his best for Madrid this season, but he now has three goals in his last five matches.
