Gareth Bale must brace himself for a huge decrease in salary of around £70m if he decides to leave Real Madrid in the summer, according to a report.

Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale will reportedly have to take a £70m drop in salary if he is to force his way out of the club this summer.

The Wales international has spent the last six years at the Bernabeu, where he has won 13 major honours - including four Champions Leagues, playing a major part in three of those successes.

Bale's time in the Spanish capital appears to be drawing to a close, though, amid rumours that he is growing tired of fan dissent in what is a season to forget for Madrid.

Having been booed by his own supporters twice in the space of a few days over the past week, Bale is said to be weighing up a return to the Premier League, six years after leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Los Blancos.

According to The Sun, however, the 29-year-old has no chance of finding another club willing to match his £650,000-a-week wages, so he is looking at a huge decrease in salary wherever he ends up.

Bale has just over three years to run on his Madrid contract, which will supposedly earn him more than £100m if he stays.
