Zinedine Zidane will allegedly be contemplating an exit from Real Madrid after a failed move for Paul Pogba, according to Spanish journalist Diego Torres.

Zinedine Zidane may allegedly be thinking about leaving Real Madrid after the club failed to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

Zidane initially left Los Blancos last summer, only to be re-appointed as head coach after disappointing periods under Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari.

There have been claims that Zidane only agreed to return to the Bernabeu having been assured that Real would sign Pogba during the current transfer window, something which is now unlikely to materialise given that United would be unable to sign a replacement.

According to Spanish journalist Diego Torres, Real not being able to sign Pogba, as well as keeping Gareth Bale, will leave Zidane considering his long-term future.

Torres told The Independent: "Not signing Pogba puts Zidane on the brink of resigning. Zidane personally promised Pogba he would bring him to Madrid, and now he is left looking bad. This has only increased the lack of confidence between Zidane and Florentino [Perez].

"For Zidane, his project and Pogba are almost the same thing. Nothing that he was promised has really come to pass."

Real get their La Liga campaign underway on Saturday with an away fixture against Celta Vigo.
