Report: Florentino Perez regrets new Sergio Ramos deal

A report in Spain claims that president Florentino Perez wishes he had not given Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos a new contract.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly told close associates that he regrets handing Sergio Ramos a new contract in the summer.

The centre-back was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, but he eventually agreed to extend his stay at the Bernabeu until 2020.

However, since then injuries have limited the 29-year-old to 13 outings this season, eight of which Real have failed to win.

On the flip side, of the 12 games that he has missed, Los Blancos have triumphed on 11 occasions.

According to Sport, that has made Perez privately admit that he was wrong to meet Ramos's demands regarding the extension to his deal.

Ramos was also thought to have been one of the senior players that had a negative relationship with former head coach Rafael Benitez.
