Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo believes that his side were the better team in their semi-final clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Jose Mourinho's side were 2-0 winners this evening at the Bernabeu but lost 4-3 on aggregate after trailing 4-1 from the first leg.

Ronaldo is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "The first leg was key but today we have demonstrated that we are a team that could be in the final.

"We missed chances. We scored too late. I want to congratulate the fans for their support.

"We have proven to be better than them but the score in the first leg was key. The fans have been awesome."

Following the defeat, Madrid boss Mourinho has revealed he may leave the club at the end of the season.
