Iker Casillas: 'Champions League more important than World Cup'

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas claims that winning the Champions League was more important than possible World Cup success for Spain this summer.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has claimed that winning the Champions League was more important than possible World Cup success for Spain this summer.

Casillas captained Los Blancos to a 4-1 win over Atletico Madrid in the final of the European Cup last night and, following the match, he insisted that the feeling would outweigh any possible success with his country in Brazil this summer.

"This is more. It's so important, it's more than the World Cup," Casillas told Sport.

"It's been so long, the 10th, it's a round number, a perfect number. I want to congratulate those who have come here and thank the fans who have not said anything bad."

The success was Madrid's 10th in European competition.
