Reading director of football Nicky Hammond confirms that the club will hold contract talks with Chris Baird when the midfielder regains fitness.

Reading director of football Nicky Hammond has revealed that the club will begin contract talks with midfielder Chris Baird when he is back to full fitness.

The 31-year-old joined the Championship side in September on a short-term deal which expired last month.

"He is still training with us but he is recovering from an injury at the moment," Hammond told PA.

"We will have a look at it once he is up to speed. He is keen to stay but he is not quite fit just yet."

The Northern Ireland international has made nine appearances for Reading this season.
