Whittaker, Naismith agree Rangers pay cut

Steven Whittaker and Steven Naismith reportedly agree to take a 75% pay cut to help Glasgow Rangers' financial troubles.

Steven Whittaker and Steven Naismith have reportedly agreed to take a 75% pay cut to help Glasgow Rangers' financial troubles.

The players are thought to have made the decision in order to minimise job losses at the Scottish club, according to BBC Sport.

Administrators had warned on Thursday that the club would suffer "significant redundancies" if a deal with players was not made.

It is unclear whether other squad members have agreed to take a cut in wages.

Gregg Wylde and Mervan Celik voluntarily left the club without redundancy pay on Tuesday to help ease financial pressures.

Rangers are hoping to save around £1m per month as they look to find a way out administration.

The Scottish Football Association announced on Thursday that they would be launching an independent investigation into the running of the club after they claimed that owner Craig Whyte was not a "fit and proper person".
