Mark Warburton vows to deal with expectation levels at Rangers

Rangers manager Mark Warburton acknowledges that he must "send the supporters home happy" if he is to be a success at Ibrox in the coming years.

Mark Warburton has insisted that he will not let the pressure get to him as he attempts to guide Rangers into the Scottish Premiership.

The Gers fell just short last season after losing out in the playoffs, prolonging their three-year absence from the top flight.

Recently-appointed boss Warburton got his reign off to a winning start last week, with his first taste of competitive action at Ibrox to follow this weekend against Peterhead in the Scottish League Cup.

"You have to enjoy it," Sky Sports News quotes the former Brentford manager as saying. "You can't drown under it. This is Rangers Football Club and there is that weight of expectation and it is how you deal with it that will determine how well you do.

"Right now the supporters are happy, we had a good result last week, but now the focus is going to work on Sunday. That's what they are, they are footballers, they have to go to work, do a good job and send the supporters home happy."

Rangers beat Hibernian 6-2 in their opening game of the season, while their first taste of league action comes against St Mirren next weekend.
