Scottish League Cup roundup: Rangers into round two, Hibernian seal comeback

A roundup of all the night's Scottish League Cup action, including Rangers' 2-1 win over Queen's Park and Hibernian's incredible comeback to beat Dumbarton 3-2.

Rangers have progressed through to the second round of the Scottish League Cup following a 2-1 away victory at Queen's Park tonight.

A Kris Boyd brace sandwiched either side of Anthony Quinn's first-half header ensured that Ally McCoist's side edged past their Scottish League Two opponents. They will host Inverness in the second round.

The rest of the night's ties saw teams battling for a place in the third round, and fellow Scottish League One side Hibernian completed a remarkable turnaround to beat Dumbarton 3-2.

Hibs were trailing 2-0 at home with 12 minutes remaining, but two goals from Farid El Alagui drew them level with six minutes remaining before Sam Stanton made himself a hero after coming off the bench to score an injury-time winner.

Another Scottish League One side, Hearts, beat lower-league opposition 2-1 in the form of Stenhousemuir. Gary Oliver and Kevin McHattie netted for the Scottish Championship leaders.

Hamilton Academical, who are currently second in the Scottish Premiership on nine points - thrashed Alloa Athletic 4-1, while fellow Premiership side Dundee also put four past Raith Rovers in a 4-0 win. Both sides had four different goalscorers.

Myles Hippolyte scored a dramatic 119th-minute winner as Livingstone beat Queen of the South 1-0 after extra time at the New Livingstone Stadium.

Rory Loy missed an injury-time penalty for Falkirk but his blushes were saved as his side went on to beat Cowdenbeath 5-4 on penalties after the game had finished 0-0 after 120 minutes.
