Manager Ally McCoist dismisses claims made by chief executive Charles Green, who said that the current crop of players at Ibrox were "the worst Rangers team ever".

Manager Ally McCoist has dismissed Charles Green's claims that the current Rangers team are the worst in history.

Chief executive Green described the Ibrox's current crop as "the worst Rangers team ever", but McCoist has sprung to the defence of his side, who were crowned Irn-Bru Third Division champions last week.

"It's also the best Rangers team Charles has ever seen, to be honest," said McCoist. "Charles is relatively new to Rangers. He knows the job he's got to do, and we've all got to do, and we're looking forward to doing it.

"In my opinion, it's not the worst Rangers team. I'm not sure how many titles Charles has won in his career but I've been very fortunate to win 14 at our football club, including as assistant manager.

"That title we were all involved in just there is the hardest one."

McCoist was speaking after watching the Gers win 4-1 at Queen's Park this afternoon.
