Jon Daly opened the scoring for the home side after just three minutes, before he added to his tally with Andrew Little adding a third just before half time.

Ally McCoist was boosted by the return of Ian Black and Lewis Macleod, and both played integral roles in the first-half showing.

Rangers dominated possession and created numerous goalscoring opportunities but were unable to further add to their lead.
