Chris Ramsey pleased with Charlie Austin stay

Queens Park Rangers head coach Chris Ramsey admits that he is pleased to keep hold of striker Charlie Austin.

Chris Ramsey has said that Charlie Austin has showed "integrity and loyalty" by staying at Queens Park Rangers despite their relegation from the Premier League last season.

The striker has been linked with a number of top-flight sides over the summer, but hinted on Twitter that he would be staying at Loftus Road ahead of this evening's transfer deadline.

After keeping hold of Austin and Matty Phillips, who had also been linked with a move away, the head coach told the club's website: "I think QPR have helped put players like Charlie and Matty on the map, and it's great to see them acting with such integrity and loyalty.

"Obviously, from a professional point of view, you feel a little disappointed for them as all players want to play at the highest level possible, but they're in a great place here at QPR.

"They're at a great club, where I believe they can go on to be even better players than they currently are. They're improving all the time, and the pair of them are only going to get better."

Austin has already scored four goals in five appearances for QPR this season.
