Queens Park Rangers agree to pay Estudiantes around £6.4m for Colombian youth international Duvan Zapata, with the deal subject to international clearance.

Queens Park Rangers have reportedly agreed a fee with Argentine side Estudiantes for striker Duvan Zapata.

The Colombian forward was linked with West Ham United earlier this summer, but the Hammers pulled out of a deal over work permit concerns.

QPR are confident that they can get special clearance to seal a deal for the 22-year-old and have agreed to pay Estudiantes £6.4m for his services, according to Sky Sports News.

Zapata is a regular at youth level for Colombia, but is yet to force his way into a senior squad containing Radamel Falcao and Jackson Martinez.

Any deal for the forward is subject to a work permit hearing, which is likely to go under appeal because Zapata has not played at senior level for his country.

Hoops boss Harry Redknapp expects to get a special talent exemption for the striker, with the aim of adding Zapata to a forward line which already features Bobby Zamora, Andy Johnson and summer signing Charlie Austin.
