Harry Redknapp says that Steve McClaren is close to leaving his coaching role at Queens Park Rangers to become the new manager of Derby County.

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has suggested that the club's first-team coach Steve McClaren is close to joining Derby County.

Reports have claimed that the ex-England boss is poised to hold talks with the Championship outfit following Nigel Clough's dismissal on Saturday.

According to BBC Radio Derby's Owen Bradley, Redknapp said: "There's a good chance we'll lose him [to Derby]. I'll be sad to see him go, he's been excellent."

The Rams currently sit 14th in the league table on 11 points.
