Charlie Austin brace sees off Huddersfield

Queens Park Rangers beat Huddersfield Town at Loftus Road today thanks to a brace from Charlie Austin.

Queens Park Rangers have beaten Huddersfield Town 2-1 at Loftus Road thanks to a brace by Charlie Austin either side of Nakhi Wells's goal.

The game saw action early on, as a flicked header from QPR's Andrew Johnson was cleared off the line by Adam Hamill in the first few minutes.

Not long afterwards, Huddersfield midfielder Danny Ward was able to find space between Clint Hill and Richard Dunne, before dragging his effort wide.

Robert Green then made a decent save on the quarter-hour mark when he palmed Oliver Norwood's free-kick over the bar. Three minutes later, Green denied Wells one on one.

Just after the half-hour mark, Austin and Karl Henry headed against the Town woodwork in quick succession, with Alex Smithies also pulling off a fine save.

In the 55th minute, Austin fired the ball past Smithies from close-range to put the R's ahead.

The Terriers pulled a goal back just over 10 minutes later courtesy of Wells, making his full debut for his new side. A surging run into the box from Hammill was followed by a cross, which was headed past Green by the former Bradford man.

However, with 11 minutes to go, Austin was able to head home from close range after Benoit Assou-Ekotto picked out the striker from a corner.
