Christopher Samba defends his wages as well as the owner's spending, and insists that the Queens Park Rangers players care just as much as the fans.

Queens Park Rangers defender Christopher Samba has insisted that he is tired of defending his wages and the owner's spending.

QPR owner Tony Fernandes has come in for some criticism after signing a number of players on large contracts.

Samba, though, says that the owner just wants QPR to avoid relegation, just like everyone else at the club regardless of salaries.

"I have to defend against [my salary]," Samba told The Mirror. "They wanted to extend my contract at Anzhi [Makhachkala]. I could have earned more there but I wanted to come back to England.

"The club believes in the players they have brought here. What would people say if the owner didn't spend anything? If he didn't spend any money? They would have said that he didn't care.

"People think our attitude is 'Whether we win or lose, we get paid.' They are wrong. If I lose a game, I might get paid but I go home and it affects me."

QPR are currently 19th in the Premier League with eight games remaining, starting with a trip to Fulham tomorrow night.
