Ray Wilkins: 'Neil Warnock axe no surprise'

Ray Wilkins is not suprised by the sacking of Neil Warnock from QPR.

Former Queens Park Rangers boss Ray Wilkins has admitted that he is not surprised by Neil Warnock's dismissal.

Warnock was sacked by the club on Sunday night, with Mark Hughes expected to be his replacement.

Wilkins believes that a manager losing his job is no longer a surprise in football. However, the former England international does not expect Warnock to be out of the game for too long.

"I'm never surprised anymore in football. I think 'surprised' is a word we should take out of our vocabulary as far as football people are concerned because it happens so often," said Wilkins.

"Unfortunately we do live in a results-based business and the results haven't really been what Neil, I'm sure, would have wanted this season.

"Neil will be sought after and don't be surprised if that happens in this January window either. Neil's record as a Championship manager is second to none."

Wilkins was manager at Loftus Road from 1994-1996.
